By AsupremecleanNovember 9, in Hand Tools. I just acquired this plane and need to know how collectible it is and if I should restore it or leave it as is in order to sell it. Along with this plane I acquired a Stanley stanley no 7 jointer plane mod 7c that I am restoring for personal use. It is not as old as the one in question.
Stanleyy cannot help you as to the rarity, but look like some workers to me. Get you a gallon of evaporust and get em soaking. Don't mean to ruin dreams but the condition will remove it from a collectors eye. I also don't know how kindly they take to restored planes vs just cleaned up planes. What you have is 2 solid lpane though. I'd get the smooth bottom one tuned up nice and put it to work.
I'd clean up the other one and sell it. I don't personally like the corrugated planes. As for selling it, I've always found that it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay iointer it.
Some want it for the collectible value, no matter what shape and others would rather have it cleaned up. This will give you some ideas. These are at the high end of the price range.
