The aquarium protrusion that extends into the linkage on my particular stack on cabinet was a little larger than the hole in the linkage where it must be connected. I was able to enlarge the linkage hole in a few minutes with a small rotary tool and file in a few minutes.

I have picked locks easily that way. Have you tried just using a small scredriver to push the lock back to where the key will fit? I did try with a screw driver to wack the cylinder back to the left. It didn't budge. Tomorrow I'll try to wack the shit out of it while pushing on the door and trying to turn it If that doesn't work, I'l grind the outer tit off the key and try that.

Try a straightened paper clip to rotate it. It shouldn't be under tension. This is more applicable to the OP's problem.
