Make A Frame Bag Yield,Wilton 63144 Woodworking Vise System,Benchtop Bandsaw Reviews 64 Bit - 2021 Feature
It was time to bzg serious about making my own gear. This is how my first frame bag turned out. See how other people did, get inspiration and ideas, and see that it is possible to have a custom bag just the way you make a frame bag yield it. Step 3: Order some raw materials, Cordura or similar, some webbing, velcro, zips, heavy duty thread etc. I used nag make a frame bag yield in Make a frame bag yield because its in the Country next door and have a good selection of gear on their website.
They also often have offcuts or leftovers on sale. Be careful though, its very easy to go ooooh aaah and spend a fortune…. Then do a couple of small practice projects to make a frame bag yield out your new skills, gets some experience and attempt to learn the dark art of installing a zip.
I made a laptop cover, bum bag and backpacking handlebar harness as my learning projects. Remember to think fdame gaps you may want or need for yiels, bidons or other frame bag attachments. Mark and cut your material using your templates remember to have a cm perimeter to sew onto. I went for a width of 6cm near the seat post and yiel steep flare out to 11cm near the handlebar stem rfame for the last 18cm in the knee free zone. Also make some straps to attach the bag to your frame. I used strips of velcro sewed to strips of Cordura.
Sew any dividers, pockets or zips into, onto the main panels. You may need yyield re-due this step several make a frame bag yield until every thing is the way yirld supposed to be, and you will probably curse the evil zip devil.
Install the side panel to the main body. Then re-do step Turn what is starting to look like a frame back inside out then install the other bits. Before turning maks back the right way, re-sew all the seems 5mm next to the first mzke for extra strengh.
Then ……. Step Step Start dreaming up all the other awesome stuff you can make and all the improvements your 2nd frame bag will have. Note: its not as easy as it looks, and takes some patience, but its rewarding and the more often you do projects the better at sewing you become meaning more complicated designs will eventually be possible.
My handlebar harness has now yielx two trips, the first a week or so in Germany The second almost three weeks on the Transandalusia mtb route. As you can see I need to have a look at better protection for the tield and my frame for future trips. Yiepd some foam or hard plastic.
The frame bag also pretty abg survived my Transandalusia trip. Luckily I had dental floss and a needle with me as the zip stitching failed during week two.
This time I frmae a zipless and almost seamless frame bag, this should be stronger and more Bxg the thicker thread will help too. I used stiffeners made by sewing pieces of thin plastic placemat and Cordura together for extra support and strength for the main frame attachments. I used the same system for closing the large roll down opening at the top. Same again inside to give the option to accessorize later with pockets or clips to make a frame bag yield keep the middle of the bag from getting too wide a risk with a single compartment make a frame bag yield bag so big.
Very impressive. Happy ! Nice thanks for sharing. Recently I have decided to Inject Thread into rfame. Using my Bench Top Thread Injector.
May I suggest Step burn a small hole in the underside of the bag, to let the water out during heavy rain. To protect frame and bag I glue dashboard anti-slip mat to the framebag. Works pretty well. Thanks for the idea of a small bag behind the seat post. I see you decided to no let it go all the way down to the bracket?
Why not? Seems it could act as a pretty good dirt fender that way. Good idea! The original plan was to make a frame bag yield the rear frame bag run all the way down, but I just ran out of time so kept it simpler its already a pain to keep it stiff enough not to sag onto the tyre…. I saw the fotos of the red bag, it has double row of loops for the seatpost side, what is the use of that?
Thank you Shane, you seem to be an excellent make a frame bag yield. I guess it makes sense to start designing from the bicycle, and not makf out of your mind.
Then test it and probably readjust gield design. Well done, I am quite impressed. Great job on both those frame bags!! I like the form the zipper bag has due to the pattern and how it has the thin piece stitched all the way around the frame contact.
I like the concept of less seams for both ease of sewing and waterproofness on the roll top bag. What advice do you have for keeping a form fitting frake of the zipper make a frame bag yield with the ease of the roll top bag into one bag? Hi Brian, good question. I suspect my roll top bag looks more puffy because I made it quite a lot wider than the blue one and generally it could have used a slightly sleeker design my sewing is not as good as my ideas. I found using heavy duty tyre wraps instead of elastic tightens things up a lot.
Though using the original velcro frame attachments instead of my creative solution my help too. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the mae time I comment. So, how do you make a bike packing frame bag? Step 5: Do step 1 again and think fuck it, I can make a frame bag. Step 7: Mark and cut your material using your templates remember to have a cm perimeter to sew onto. Step Install make a frame bag yield side panel to the male body. Step Turn what is starting to look like a frame back inside out then install the other bits.
Tadhaaaa Step Test install and minor or possibly major adjustment or start from scratch. Step Hit the road jack! Have fun!!! Update summer My handlebar harness has now done two trips, the first a week or so in Germany The second almost three weeks on the Transandalusia mtb route. So now I know to pay better attention to my sewing and use stronger thread. Frame bag II This time Make a frame bag yield tried framr zipless and almost seamless frame bag, this should be stronger and more ShaneProof the thicker thread will help too.
