Designing an Efficient Dust Collection System - Spiral Manufacturing

Great addition to my small woodworking set- up in my basement. I was so happy with the performance and price I purchased one as a gift for my favorite woodworker, my Dad, and he loves it.

I was a little leary about purchasing this air filtration system but I am glad I did, it is perfect for my workshop, the noise level is quieter then I expected almost unnoticeable when other woodworking machines and back ground music is on.

Wish I had bought one of these years ago! Bought a new filter for my shop vac and proceeded to run a couple hundred woodworking shop dust collection design jp of MDF through my router table to put some wainscot edging on my stiles and rails. Have to admit I was skeptical with that amount of dust created, but this thing really does work!

I did end up buying just the cyclone canister instead of the deluxe kit with hose, buckets, gasket, bolts, and casters. I'm a novice woodworker and this product is great for my garage shop. I have moved and while my old basement shop was seriously overcrowded at about sq-ft, the new one is about 6 times that size and I was finally able to lay things out in a usable configuration as opposed to clear a space; get stationary tool X out of storage; use it there; return it to storage…it's a long story and I'm glad the problem is gone.

I'm a pretty amateur woodworker, so dont get a TON of everyday use out of this, but when its hooked up right, it sucks like nobody's business. A must have for all woodworker. Yesabsolutely helps take a lot of the fine dust out of the airjust have to keep blowing the filter out until it's to dirty then replace. Ours is v. We have it in our woodworking shop in the basement. Not sure about cigar smoke. I use it in my woodworking shop and it does great with sawdust and dust particles in general. My best guess is it would depend on how large the area was as to how effective at filtering cigar smoke. It does filter a 'sqft room 7. Hi, I'm some what familiar with cyclones as we use large industrial ones for my business. I bought this for a home project. Putting water in the bucket won't do anything except make a mess. The bucket acts only to catch the material that has been separated by the cyclone. The air doesn't flow though the bucket as you may think. Cyclones work on centrifugal force. They spin air, and large dirt particles and dust get thrown out of the air stream and up against the sides of the cyclone.

From there they work their way down into the bucket. Our cyclones capture dust from woodworking equipment and then the air gets blown outside. This saves wear and tear on the blowers. Trust me on this But glass dust will flat out kill you. Silicosis is no fun way to die. Venting nice, heated air outside is just one of the costs of doing business. In our shop we have sealed combustion heaters that draw outside air for "make-up air. That's asking for trouble.

Like other reviewers I should have done this a long time ago. I have a 30 x 40 work shop, and this does a great job of cleaning the air. Prior to using it I would have " nostril wood nose" from breathing in wood dust. This catches a lot of airborne dust that you would normally inhale. If you have a workshop, you need this product. Very, very happy with this, which I purchased based upon a woodworking magazine's review of a number of different air cleaners.

I use mine in a 15x20 woodworking shop. It sure moves the air and removes particles. I can't help you with the heat but I have been well satisfied with its performance. It seems like you can never have enough vac and dust collection.
