Designing an Efficient Dust Collection System - Spiral Manufacturing

Great addition to my small woodworking set- up in my basement. I was so happy with the performance and price I purchased one as a gift for my favorite woodworker, my Dad, and he loves it.

I was a little leary about purchasing this air filtration system but I am glad I did, it is perfect for my workshop, the noise level is quieter then I expected almost unnoticeable when other woodworking machines and back ground music is on.

Wish I had bought one of these years ago! Bought a new filter for my shop vac and proceeded to run a couple hundred woodworking shop dust collection design jp of MDF through my router table to put some wainscot edging on my stiles and rails. Have to admit I was skeptical with that amount of dust created, but this thing really does work!

I did end up buying just the cyclone canister instead of the deluxe kit with hose, buckets, gasket, bolts, and casters. This air cleaner works very well in keeping the air in my woodworking shop quite clear and not getting into the rest of the house. I'm a novice woodworker and this product is great for my garage shop. A dust collector was something I always knew I would need once I started woodworking, but it was one of the later purchases I made.

I have moved and while my old basement shop was seriously overcrowded at about sq-ft, the new one is about 6 times that size and I was finally able to lay things out in a usable configuration as opposed to clear a space; get stationary tool X out of storage; use it there; return it to storage…it's a long story and I'm glad the problem is gone.

It actually arrived a day early Thanks! I think mine is the larger one but you can get either size. I use it a woodworking shop and it does fine. Purchased this for my woodworking shop. I'm a pretty amateur woodworker, so dont get a TON of everyday use out of this, but when its hooked up right, it sucks like nobody's business. A must have for all woodworker. I strongly recommend this product to woodworking shop dust collection design jp person who does woodwork.

Yesabsolutely helps take a lot of the fine dust out of the airjust have to keep blowing the filter out until it's to dirty then replace. Ours is v. We have it in our woodworking shop in the basement. Does a good job. Very nice unit. This filtration system works perfect in my woodworking shop. I've had this unit in my basement woodworking shop for a year, and I highly recommend it for small shops.

Not sure about cigar smoke. I use it in my woodworking shop and it does great with sawdust and dust particles in general. My best guess is it would depend on how large the area was as to how effective at filtering cigar smoke. It does filter a 'sqft room 7. It's a great woodworking shop dust collection design jp and if your woodworking as I do, I also run a hepa dust collector and in combo they work nicely.

Works great for collecting dust in my husband's woodworking shop! This is such a nifty device. Started a honey-do list with alot of wood projects around the house and the amount of saw dust that is created is unbelievable! Boyfriend built this tower for easy mobility and it's been a life saver. Haven't had to buy a shop vac filter since.

Hi, I'm some what familiar with cyclones as we use large industrial ones for my business. I bought this for a home project. Putting water in the bucket won't do anything except make a mess. The bucket acts only to catch the material that has been separated by the cyclone. The air doesn't flow though the bucket as you may think. Cyclones work on centrifugal force. They spin air, and large dirt particles and dust get thrown out of the air stream and up against the sides of the cyclone.

From there they work their way down into the bucket. Our cyclones capture dust from woodworking equipment and then the air gets blown outside. This saves wear and tear on the blowers. Trust me on this But glass dust will flat out kill you. Silicosis is no fun way to die. Venting nice, heated air outside is just one of the costs of doing business. In our shop we have sealed combustion heaters that draw outside air for "make-up air. That's asking for trouble.

I was a little bit skeptical as to woodworking shop dust collection design jp well this would work, but was pleasantly surprised when it preformed exactly as they said it would.

I really like the fact it doesn't take any special vacuum. I have a woodworking shop dust collection design jp 2 gallon shop vac as well as a much larger 16 gallon. Woodworking shop dust collection design jp just carry the 5 gallon bucket with deputy from one to the other. A must have for any woodworker using a dust collector. This product is a must have if you do home woodworking.

Works great for woodworking, really cuts down the number of times you have to stop and clean your shopvac filters. This device really helps, I use my garage for my woodwork area and I saw a huge difference day 1. This is a great unit for anyone conscious of dust inhalation. The speeds and timer work great amd the remote is a huge plus as mine is hanging 9 feet in the air!

Unpacking is a breeze and my particular unit didn't have any shipping damage but some do so inspect carefully The unit works by continually circulating and filtering the air thru the shop. I think you would lose some much? If you were to purchase this, I believe you should install it with the exhaust aimed toward the doors. I do not lnow if will do the job in ceramic studio, the dust must woodworking shop dust collection design jp neavier than wood dust, but in woodworking a lot of dust is turning around the workshop ant it works perfect!

Like other reviewers I should have done this a long time ago. I have a 30 x 40 work shop, and this does a great job of cleaning the air. Prior to using it I would have " nostril wood nose" from breathing in wood dust. This catches a lot of airborne dust that you would normally inhale. If you have a workshop, you need this product. Very, very happy with this, which I purchased based upon a woodworking magazine's review of a number of different air cleaners.

I use mine in a 15x20 woodworking shop. It sure moves the air and removes particles. I can't help you with the heat but I have been well satisfied with its performance. In my opinion if your using your shop like most of us woodworkers and by that I mean your running your table saw, jointer, sanders of all kinds ect woodworking shop dust collection design jp a decent vac system and your Jet air filter, yes your still going woodworking shop dust collection design jp have dust, there just woodworking shop dust collection design jp way around it.

It seems like you can never have enough vac and dust collection. I woodworking shop dust collection design jp also like to make sure I mention that Im very happy with my Jet air filter purchase and would recommend one to anyone who is dealing with fine dust! Haven't used the cyclone separator, but with the shop fox, all air is filtered through the bag.

It's worked very well for me with all my woodworking woodworking shop dust collection design jp including my planer and bandsaw. Skip to main content Explore dust collection systems for woodworking. Designing Your Dust Collection System. There are two phases to designing your dust collection system: The first phase is sizing your duct work for adequate volume and velocity of flow for the type of dust you will be creating; and the second phase is computing the static pressure (SP) of your system to determine the size and power of your dust collection www.- on: Yellow Pine St. NW, Minneapolis, , MN.
