They spent 60 wonderful years together until George's death on March 22nd, Reunited with her beloved George, Mrs. Margaret J. Margaret and George loved being active in their adopted community. It was there they spent many laugh-filled nights waltzing and square-dancing to the familiar tune of Cape Breton fiddle music.

They truly were the perfect pair. Margaret was a natural caregiver. She loved to cook and always made sure anyone close to her was well fed! Those who came to visit were never known to leave with an empty stomach; among her many culinary specialties was her famous coffee cake, a treat loved and requested by all, friends and neighbors alike.

Another favourite was her delicious meat pie, a treat reserved for holidays and special occasions. She was exceptional in the kitchen and had a caring heart to match.

She was known for constantly asking about others and never complained. Margaret was truly one of those special people who always put the needs of others before her own. She stayed at home while her children were young and worked as a domestic in private homes where many local families got to know and love her wonderful personality.

In their free time, she and George always looked forward to visiting Cheticamp in Nova Scotia and loved spending time at "the camp" — their beloved cottage in Ashby, Massachusetts.

Countless memories were made there by many generations of Richards, relatives, and friends. They especially cherished time there with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brother, Sandy and his sister-in-law, Marguerite Gillis He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who brought him much joy. Frank enjoyed travelling with his family to Massachusetts, Connecticut, Michigan, and Florida over the years visiting relatives and friends. Upon retirement he and Alice would spend occasional winters in Florida, enjoying their time there with family and friends.

Frank also enjoyed watching the horse races, playing cards, watching baseball, hockey, and curling on TV with Alice. He always enjoyed chatting with old friends, locally and from away about old times growing up in Inverness. He enjoyed good food and special treats such as fudge and butterscotch pie.

Alice was a very strong, independent, kind, and caring person who enjoyed life. She was known for her red hair, colorful vocabulary, her baked goods and going to bingo. Being raised on a farm as an only child, she did it all from hauling water, to twitching logs, to looking after the farm. There was nothing that she couldn't turn her hand to.

There was always a way to get things done. In , she married the love of her life, Mose Arthur Cormier, and raised a family of five. For many years she worked at the Margaree Lodge in the laundry department. Alice lived a life of deep faith and love of God. She prayed the rosary daily and always had a novena on the go.

After retiring in , he bought a green John Deere tractor. From then on, many a sunny day saw him mowing, tilling, bush hogging, and helping with community projects. He was always meticulous about his work, and took great pride in a job well done. An unexpected bonus was acquiring many new friends from both the US and Canada.

Ranald loved sports, as player, coach, and fan. He played first base for the Miners, the Royals, and Landon Construction softball teams. After retirement, he spent many happy hours on the golf course.

Even as his strength dwindled, he always found enough energy to carry him through those alluring 18 holes. Thank you to the nurses, cooks, and cleaning staff who treated us with such kindness, respect, and compassion.

She was a talented bookkeeper, gardener, avid reader of history and proud Maritimer. She also knitted countless sweaters and socks as gifts, and will be missed by everyone who received them.

Special thanks to her caregivers at Kensington Gardens in Toronto where she lived for her last two years. After her children were grown, Cindy enjoyed her work at the Fair Isle Motel.

She loved to travel to visit family that lived away or would often have family stay with her on their visits to Cape Breton. Mostly, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and always had a cookie waiting for them in the cupboard. Cindy was predeceased by her parents, four sisters, two brothers and her great-granddaughter, Alaina. With pride, she became a Canadian citizen in Catherine worked in Whycocomagh as a cashier at the Co-op and a waitress at the Texaco Restaurant. She and Allan always supported their children, ensuring they had ample access to education and extracurricular activities. They continued this and enjoyed many adventures with their grandchildren, Mikaela and Nathan. Catherine spent much time volunteering for church and community, instilling these values in her children.

Her kindness and thoughtfulness were appreciated by family and friends. Crosswords and sudoku were a favourite pastime. Most evenings she could be found at a local card game. She is also remembered for her love of lemon pie. She is a life member of United Church Women.

A truck in 1 hold got loose on this date in an Atlantic storm miles southeast of Halifax in causing a heavy list and a 12 foot gash in the hull. It was carrying barytes, a mineral used in oil-drilling fluids, from El Salvador. Marie on November 11 when the radar malfunctioned. The vessel reached Georgetown, Guyana, and was declared a total loss. It was reported as scuttled in the Atlantic off Jacksonville, Fla. February saw water levels decline on all of the Great Lakes.

The Soo Locks on the St. Marys River allow vessels to navigate the 21 ft elevation change between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. To build the new lock, deepening the channel on the upstream side west of the Poe lock is necessary. Dredging is scheduled to occur in Drilling and blasting are required to fragment the bedrock and concrete for dredging. Ground vibration, underwater shockwaves from blasting, and the potential physical impacts to nearby fish and fish eggs in the St.

The team found nine data sources and reviewed them to determine the upper limit of vibrations and sudden change in water pressure brought on from blasting.

The team developed estimated thresholds to protect fish spawning habitat in the immediate dredging area.
