Use a two-flute bit where fine finish is paramount. Two flutes balance the bit, eliminating vibration that degrades the cut finish. Two cuts per revolution yield a smooth surface, but feed rate is slightly reduced. Excellent for Cutting. Then we cut the fronts at drawer outside width -1/4" and make all the same notch cut. Staple with glue, and voila. This is good because we can use pre-edge Baltic strips or domestic ply and there is no final sanding. Same applies to pre-finished, but the finish gets a bit marked up. Better to do a final topcoat on the assembled drawer. Variation of rabbet and groove (old Delta series of books). Locking rabbet and groove. Single shaper cutter or molding head, 2 setups each for side and front. Stock thickness is critical! I have an old quarter-sawn white oak Mission style desk with drawer sides nailed to rabbetted drawer .
