Since the fiberglass is softer than metal, the point easily pushes into the fiberglass; this keeps the drill bit from "walking" on the surface. Slowly begin to drill a hole through the surface of the fiberglass.
Use the lowest speed possible to start the bit. As it begins to dig into the fiberglass, increase the rotational speed. Place masking tape over the area to be drilled. If you are going to be drilling completely through the door, place masking tape on the other side as well. Press the brad-point drill bit through the mark and pierce the fiberglass; this keeps the bit from walking along the surface. Begin drilling on the slowest speed possible until the drill begins to bite into the fiberglass.
Increase the rotational speed of the bit.
