After that, take a hacksaw and chop it off. Then clean it properly. Now, take a piece of sandpaper and stick it with adhesive. Your radiator hose is ready! Now you can sand the grooves easily with the help if this. You can modify your sandpaper a little by using duct tape to sand grooves of the table legs easily. There are some places that cannot be reached easily.

For this, you can make a combo of sandpaper and duct tape. This is a very easy trick also. You just have to attach some duct tape behind the sandpaper. After attaching, cut them in smaller stripes. Well, it is ready to use now. Use it to sand narrow places that are hard to reach. There are many sanding tools available on the market.

You can use power tools to decrease the time of sanding. Moreover, Power sanders can be used in a large area as well as tight spots. Take a look! Dremel tools are the best for sanding tight spaces as various shapes and types of sanding accessories can be attached to the tool head. It can have three types of heads such as oscillating head, rotating head, and saw-like head.

Also, they can have custom heads. This tool reaches almost every tight places that are hard to reach. No other power sanding tool is as effective as Dremel tools to sand in tight places. There are many tight spaces in table legs that cannot be sanded through the normal sander. That is why a Dremel tool is needed because you can attach any suitable head for sanding chair legs to the tool. File sander also known as mini belt sander is one of the best sanding tools to sand hard to reach areas.

Usually, it is used for accurately detailed sanding. You can reach a tight spot through its narrow belt. This small sanding tool is very amazing as you can also do powerful sanding with the belt sander. You can use its narrow belt to go to tight places and get accurate detail work. The detail sander is usually used for sanding the corners. It has a triangular sanding pad. There are many similarities between the orbital sander and detail sander.

But detail sander is better when it comes to sanding tight corners. Detail sander can be used in sanding table legs. You can get the corners done by using this tool. There are plenty of products in the market that can help you to sand the grooves easily. If you are able to buy products from the market then you can buy sanding disc or emery boards.

The Emory board is very narrow. Thus, it can reach the grooves easily. But the problem is the emery board takes too much time. If you try to do it fast you might ruin the design. You can use a 3M roloc sanding disc.

But do it slowly for better results. It is easy to sand a flat surface. But when it comes to a round surface it is not that easy. Well, the reason for this is the size of the sanding paper. Most of the sandpaper or sanding pads are flat.

Though sanding round surfaces such as table legs are difficult if you change the techniques a little bit then it will be easier than you can imagine. First, take a knife and sandpaper. Cut the sandpaper carefully into stripes. Then move the strip back and forth to shape the round table legs or any other round object.

If the sandpaper tears then get a new one or use some duct tape to the back of the previous one to make it work again. First, grab a paintbrush and apply a layer of coating of chemical stripper to the legs of the table.

You can find chemical strippers at any home improvement store. Also, you can buy it online. Make sure that you buy the right one as the application process might vary. Follow the instructions on the package. The chemical stripper that you applied has to set on the legs of the table.

General Finishes has a great product called Gel Stain. It usually shows more knicks, dings and scratches, but sometimes it can get rid of them as well. First, lightly scuff the old finish with grit sandpaper , making sure to only sand with the direction of the grain.

I like to go over the grit with grit to get rid of any bigger scratches the made in the old finish. Then wipe off all the dust. I personally prefer to just wipe on the gel stain when I work with legs, but you could use a foam brush too! Wipe the gel stain on in an even coat. Let it sit for about 30 seconds depending on the temperature , and then wipe off the excess, and blend in the brush marks.

You should notice the wood color deepen just a bit, and you should notice the small scratches and dings almost disappear. But I know others who like to brush it on thick, creating a very very deep wood stained color. Make sure to let the stain dry for 24 hours between coats , or the fresh coat of stain will remove the layer before it. See gel stain in action with this tutorial on how to stain wood darker!

Another option is sanding off the old finish. This is definitely requires the most elbow grease and is the most time consuming way to remove the old finish from wood legs. Especially when they have extra details. But, it creates a completely different look, as you can leave the old stain in the cracks and corners, leaving a very weathered looking wood. I like to fold the paper in half , and then wrap it around the leg and move it back and forth.

Making sure that the sandpaper always goes around the leg with the grain and not up and down the leg. The grit will smooth down the deep scratches from the 80 grit and help with finer details. So use the 80 grit sandpaper first , to remove most or all of the old stain, and then use the grit sandpaper to smooth out the wood and remove any remaining residue.

When I sand down the legs, I like to skip the really tight details like the corners and edging. It gives it a pretty weathered look. For tight places and curves, I like to fold the paper in half again , without creasing the paper together.

It creates a point where the sandpaper can get into small areas. My go to stripper is Citristrip! Simply brush on the stripper , cover the stripper with plastic wrap and then let it sit for at least 8 hours. My favorite is to put the stripper on before I got to bed, and then let it sit overnight. After you have sanded or stripped the legs, you can bleach the wood to make it lighter!

Check out this post on how to bleach wood , to see how to bleach wood legs on an end table makeover! For this specific makeover, we used the Citristrip Stripper to remove the old finish from the legs. Including cleaning, wood filling, scuff sanding, vacuuming, wiping down, priming for bleed through and taping off areas of the table. A small piece of detail was missing from the front of the table, so I molded a small amount of Kwikwood to recreate the detail.

Kwikwood is an epoxy that comes in a small tube. You just cut the amount you need from the roll, and then knead it together with your fingers until it all becomes one solid color.

It dries in an hour and then can be drilled into, sanded and painted , along with some other things. It also works really well for filling in old hardware holes, and Sanding Turned Table Legs 10 fixing small chips in veneer. Get the Secrets! You can print it out and have instant access whenever you come across damaged furniture, and know exactly how to fix it! Click on the picture of the book to purchase! Once the repair was made, and all the prep work Sanding Turned Table Legs 2020 for paint was complete, I mixed a few different Country Chic Paint colors together.

So I improvised with a new mix of paint colors. First I mixed a tiny amount of Dark Roast deep brown with a healthy amount of Simplicity white.

It came out to a really pretty warm gray. Mixing paints is such a great way to create new colors AND use up the small amount of paint that is always leftover after a project or two.

Bleed through is caused by a lot of things, but it results in splotches and stains that come through the paint, and literally will not go away, no matter how many coats of paint you paint over it. Bleed through sometimes even waits to show up until after you have finished everything, and months go by. It works really really well and is easy to use. I just brush it on after everything is prepped and before I paint on any paint.
