It's a decent quality A2 blade that holds an edge well but it took a fair bit of work to lap it to a flat back with a nice polish.

Only needs to be done once though. Overall I'm really pleased with this 7. I love the feel of it in my hands, it's got some hefty mass to it and it's a pleasure to use.

As I mentioned, getting a razor sharp blade took a bit of work but once that was done this plane performs exactly as I had hoped. So far I've used the 7 to flatten and edge joint some hard maple, walnut and padauk.
