Things To Build Out At home Part Time

It was the exact same kit as the green painted one but cheaper and painted white. Mobile Navigation. Jeh cookies are absolutely essential for the website to function properly. Blade goes around a wheel. Same Day Shipping Find a Store. Sep 3, mark james.

Day later delivery and the driver was helpful, all was intact and slid the boxes out of semi trailer onto my pickup. Backed up to shop and unloaded with hand dolly. Was able to assemble myself using ladder and come along to raise saw onto base. Have been cutting Box Elder into use for lathe and scroll saw.

Works as expected so far. Need to purchase a fence soon. This will be my last bandsaw. I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger on this baby, and after 1 year I'm still very happy. Does everything I ask it with quiet precision. This machine is powerful and quiet. I installed an excellent, non-Jet aftermarket fence from my older saw and this Jet cuts straight and true without drift.

The built in 12" capacity is great - no riser block needed. Guide bearings and tracking are easy to adjust with window on edge of upper door and this setup is well-described in the manual. There are angled stabilizing supports bolted to the back of the base to prevent tipping the motor is bolted to the back of the cast iron frame creating a bit of a top heavy machine.

Do this first! Very nice that there is a lever for quick release of band tension. This I found puzzling. The tech also told me that tensioning can be done with the release lever disengaged opposite of what is said in the manual; see below.

Another downside to the tensioning process: the knob is obscenely small, but with a good bit of effort you can get the band up to the proper scale mark, but it is not something you would cherish doing every day. Please note that a plastic scale was stuck with adhesive to the back of the block indicating where the level of tension needed to be for different size blades. It is totally inaccurate - peel it off, and low and behold, embossed on the block is the true scale marks.

That's what the Jet technician told me to do. The User Manual needs to be rewritten - poor grammar, photos not with sufficient contrast, not enough information on the tensioning process, where parts are located. Product tech support is timely. I like the saw. It has everything that I wanted in a saw. I'm very happy with my first bandsaw. I researched for months before I made a choice, the thing that got me was the resaw capacity of 12 inches without adding a spacer block.

Very easy to adjust the roller guiders and track adjustments, but the tension adjustment leaves a bit to be desired. The adjustment knob was extremly hard to turn and the indicator which you would have to make assumptions about was not very well pictured in the manual. They show you where the gauge is but not a close up of the indicator. After all I have read about resawing I was amazed the the thickness was even.

I wont be needing a new saw for quite a long while. BTW the fence and miter gauge didn't come with the saw as noted above.

I bought tooling for a 16 inch band saw and had to drill a few holes in the rails but it worked out really well. Very good purchase!! I taught shop for 34 years and had Delta and Craftman"s bandsaws in my shops, from 24 inch to 12 inch. This is the best. Powerful motor, great capacity of 12" thick cuts, the best system to hold and track the blade, no "cool blocks"that will move out for bad cuts. It has a solid base and smooth quiet cutting.

I had a dream that they would make a saw like this and Jet did. Why did I have to wait until I am 60? Well worth the extra money! I was upgrading my shop from a small benchtop bandsaw and didn't want to have to upgrade again anytime soon. This bandsaw wasn't even available in my local Woodcraft store, but it looked like everything I had been advised to look for in a bandsaw. It's really more tool that I needed, but I felt like buying only one more bandsaw.

My dad used to tell me to buy the best the first time and I wouldn't have to worry about quality, and this tool meets that requirement. It's got power, accuracy, clearance and is relatively easy to use. Other than this, I have no complaints. This is my first attempt at resawing.

I have had some wood that I needed to resaw for a long time, but didn't have the equipment. I got the Jet 14" Deluxe band saw as a gift so I put it to work. I expected that the small blade would not track straight and true. It did very well. I made three passes, first cleaning up the face and two more cutting 1" slabs. This seems to have happened suddenly as I had been cutting some dogwood burl.

I have replaced the tires, blade and thrust bearings and no improvement. It is not the table because the thrust bearings are completely independent of the table. Louis of Iturra Design the bandsaw experts has no ideas for me.

Anybody on the forum have any ideas? I posted this on another forum and copied and pasted it here to see if anyone has any new ideas. Last edited: Mar 21, Larry Why don't you post a few photos of the saw itself. Both with the doors opened so we can see the blade tracking.

Also take a photo of the back of the saw where the blade gets tensioned. Also give us the number of the saw. How old is the saw??? Does the saw make any unusual noises or noises that have just started recently and if so where are they coming from??? I bet this is something you are overlooking and is a simple fix.

With a bandsaw it is one of the most basic machines out there. Blade goes around a wheel. We will get to the bottom of this. Hello Larry Thanks for posting the photos. Even though it is a newer saw it basically is the same saw that I have except yours has the quick tension lever. Lets say we break this down into the most basic way we can. What I am going to suggest is a couple things and in no ways is foolproof or may even may not make sense.

But i do not see anyone else offering any advice. Now we know the trunnions are mounted to the frame and unless there are bolts loose then this has not moved. Same on upper and lower. You never had a problem before recently. First question have you done anything differently???? If no then we move on.

How do you tension your blade???? Can you tension the blade without using the quick tension lever??? I believe you can. Here is my point or points. Something is throwing the blade off its center axis. Those wheels should be dead center of each other. First thing is level the bottom frame that the saw sits on, left to right.

Now tension the blade with the hand wheel and not the tension bar. Place a level on the blade backside away from the pitch of the teeth and the blade should be dead level. If it is that is good. While doing this watch the blade up against the back thrust bearing. That back thrust bearing does not move side to side and is stationary so it is a fixed point. If the blade is sitting against that bearing where it should be that is good.

Now release the tension on the blade and again tension the blade using the quick tension bar. Again watch the blade and check if there is any movement side to side on the blade as you tension it. The blade should again be dead level. If it moves with the bar then there is something wrong with that tensioning system and start looking there.

There was a recall years ago about the tensioning system on the Delta and all knockoffs of that saw about 10 years ago. That is why I asked how old it was. Now if all that fails and everything works the way it is suppose to then we have to look elsewhere. We have to find out for sure those wheels are lined up dead center of each other.

We also need to make sure that any bolts holding the trunnions to the frame are not loose or have any slop in them that may have cause them to move from vibration.

What is odd is that from your description the blade is further away from the thrust bearing on the lower portion than the upper portion. This leads me to believe the top wheel is moving to the right ever so much. Let me know if you find out anything else in the mean time. I am assuming there is no more warranty on it. Did you contact Delta and ask them if they run into this???? Probably the first thing I would have tried.

I understand their customer service has improved since shipping things overseas. We will not give up just yet. John I had been thinking about the wheels moving under tension also. I used calipers to measure the distance from the wheels to the sheet metal wheels cover and could discern no difference tensioned or untensioned. I tried your ideas and again could find no difference. The blade is still to the right but not so far and both thrust bearings now work.

I need to cut a ZCI for the new blade location. My thinking: a larger blade runs under greater tension than a smaller blade; this tension could be pulling the top of the C frame downwards, which would cause the blade to shift to the right.

It's unlikely to be this given your other descriptions. Sorry, I can't think of anything that JT and you haven't already covered. Have you looked at the bolts that hold the lower guide assembly onto the frame? Something may have got loose and let it move a bit. Gary Beasley said:. You must log in or register to reply here.
