I did have a lots of room, so I have this small forge and anvil set up. The forge is a small bath tub , approx. I can't remember where I got it. I then added refractory cement to the inside. I didn't have a blower, so I used a hair dryer and a dimmer switch to slow it even more.

Found a small forge online. It's not for big forging project but works OK for me to make those specific situations. I also use a old toaster over and deep fat fryer for the hardening and tempering end of it. Can you image the toys I played with when I was a kid.

Is your knife double beveled? I have my blade in a temporary handle and it seems to need the bevel to be on the bottom. While trying it out, one of the first things I found myself doing was flipping it over and using it to reach into some deeper recesses on a piece, so I think I'll make a handle that fits the hand reasonably when held both ways.
