table-saw-extension-router-table-lambda Most table saws come with an extension wing on the right-hand side of the saw table. Replacing this wing with a router table is an excellent modification to your saw. It is convenient, saves valuable floor space, and it’s inexpensive to build.  Remove the extension wing of your saw and determine the size of your new router table extension. The most critical dimension is the width — the distance between saw fence rails; mine was ⁄8″.The depth of the extension is somewhat arbitrary. I chose mine to extend to the end of the fence rails, which on my saw is ⁄2″. If you want an even deeper table, you can extend a bit farther, but no more than about 6″ past the end of the rails. Measure the distance between your saw’s fence rails first before cutting any of the project parts to size. My Delta Hybrid saw came with very long fence rails that extended way past the table. But to effectively clamp the fence, you need something to brace the fence rails at the right distance from each other against the force of the fence clamp. So the logical thing to do is to build some sort of frame to go on the right side of the table to extend the table. And the logical thing to do for this is to make it so that a router can be mounted under it. This has the advantage that both the table saw fence, and potentially the T-slot can be used with the router. I built the frame out of spruce from 2x.
