Downloading sources and build tools For recent kernels, use repo to download the sources, toolchain, and build scripts. Building the GKI modules Android 11 introduced GKI , which separates the kernel into a Google-maintained kernel image and vendor-maintained modules, which are built separately. Embedding into the Android image build Copy Image. To boot the kernel without flashing: adb reboot bootloader fastboot boot Image.
Customizing the kernel build The build process and outcome can be influenced by environment variables. The location is to be defined relative to the Repo root directory. Defaults to build. Mandatory for common kernels. That older kernel is more reliable and more likely to work with the distro's unique software, thus reducing the chance of kernel failures.
While it's always possible to manually upgrade your kernel to a newer one, the process can be quite complex. Fortunately for you, Linux Mint allows you to upgrade to certain newer kernels with ease using the kernel management tool in Mint's Update Manager.
Don't delete the older kernel after installing the new one. You'll save yourself a huge headache if you ever have issues with the new kernel. To start using the new kernel, simply reboot your device. Unless you instruct it otherwise, your device will always choose the newest installed kernel at boot. It's possible after upgrading the kernel that your hardware begins to act strange, software you regularly use starts crashing, or your PC stops working at all.
Don't panic if this happens. You can temporarily rollback to a previous kernel by accessing the GRUB menu at boot. If your issue goes away after rolling back, the older kernel may be your best choice for now, as long as it has official support status.
You'll need to remove the newer kernel, however, if you don't want your device using it. Upon powering the gimbal, the green power light bottom right in the image above should turn on immediately. The gimbal should not be touched within the first 10seconds after start-up as it will be performing an IMU calibration.
Once the calibration is done the red LED immediately left of the green LED will come on and the controller will attempt to stabilize the cmaera. At the time this wiki page was written it was version 1. Please see the VRGimbal firmware upgrade wordpress site for details.
