Verified Purchase. First, let me say that I am an experienced cabinet maker and am somewhat of a perfectionist so my rating is not based on just occasional light use I purchased 2 of these about 7 years ago after having 4 of the bessey version for several years and needing more but not wanting to pay the bessey price. I also purchased the stanley one that was out at the time and that thing was truly junk!
Irwin 90 angle clamp, when compared to bessey, these are quite literally identical with one exception The ones I irwin 90 angle clamp had a very nice rubber handle compared to the wooden one on bessey however It looks like irwin has now switched to the wooden handles too, and I can see why.
I was using one of the irwins today when the rubber handle slipped and made the clamp useless. I've never had this happen on a bessey, but like I said, it looks like irwin switched to the bessey irwin 90 angle clamp handle now so maybe irwin 90 angle clamp won't be an issue any more.
As for keeping things perfectly square, I irwin 90 angle clamp understand how people would have a problem if they are using this as a clamp, it would not work at all.
If you want something that will hold your boxes or drawers perfectly square until the glue dries, then these are for you. In order for these to do what they do best, you must assemble your box FIRST, then use this to hold it square until your glue dries. Again, this is not for holding pieces together during assemble, but instead for keeping things square after assembly while the glue dries.
Irwin 90 angle clamp this clamp works well; especially when compared to cheaper products. I've only had need to use them for one project with several corners.
These worked relatively well but you still need to be careful to properly align the corners. Irwin 90 angle clamp are not self-aligning. The single screw design is much better than competing products two screw designs. Not perfect but a welcome addition to my other Irwin clamps.
The design of the Irwin Quick-Grip clamp from Amazon is a good concept -- a perfect idea for construction of anything needing you to hold pieces in place for glue-ups and screwing pieces together.
Unfortunately the Irwin clamp is "loosely" constructed with too much slop in the movement of the clamp, making it problamatic when trying to fit loose pieces together - you shouldn't have to fight a sloppy clamp as well as the parts of your project. The clamp should be a part of the solution and not irwin 90 angle clamp of the problem.
I see this same clamp advertized under a number of manufacturers' brand names, e. Broke probably the second time using it.
I also have the bessey version which I cranked down practically as hard as I could and it held up. Buy the bessey version instead. This is not a bad clamp for making 90 degree corners. It does take a bit to learn how to use it. The clamp irwin 90 angle clamp very well built allowing it to take a lot of holding pressure. I have used them several time now with good results.
