If you buy one, I would strongly suggest trying it out on junk before you do on your project. I think these age garbage and threw mine away. Everyone knows how much valuable time is spent on projects. The last thing we need is to have it destroyed by a faulty bit. The blades actually stood out at a larger diameter than the bearing wheel. Therefore not a flush trim bit!

I used it and left a strip in my finished work. I bought this thinking it would be better than one of the cheaper brands. Lesson learned- Always test on scrap before you use anything, even if you shouldn't have to. I did a few with a jigsaw, but the holes were always a little ragged. Then I bought a 6" hole saw which made a nice circular hole, but the process was similar to brushing the teeth of an irritable mountain lion. I broke a heavy duty corded drill and nearly my wrists.

A friend suggested using a flush cut router bit and a 6" circular template. He works in a metal fabrication shop and created a really nice template for me, but a simple wood one would suffice. If nothing else, Home Depot sells pre-cut cornhole boards which could be used, but there might be other solutions. I was amazed at how easily I was able to cut a perfect hole using this bit. Like buddah! Freud still hasn't fixed the problem that so many people have had with this bit.

About 15 minutes into using this bit to trim OSB sheathing around window openings, the bearing fell off. The screw was tight when I started to use it. I recovered the screw and the bearing, but not the bushing. The screw has Loctite on it. There is no reason for this to keep happening to people. You also shouldn't expect to have to check the screw every five minutes to see if it is tight. I'll contact Freud and see if they support their products.

The product still has a problem, but Freud's customer service was top notch. I contacted Freud and they were quick to send me a new bit after only a couple of emails back and forth. I will remove the screw on this one and add Loctite before using it. I hope that keeps it going for a long time. Unfortunately I purchased this bit before reading the reviews.

Many claim the bearing is smaller in diameter that the bit flutes. I found this to be true as well. It didn't seem like it when I inspected it, but when I used it I noticed the bit cut a tad deeper than the surface the bearing was resting on. I would not be inclined to recommend this bit for precise trimming. One person found this helpful. Freud makes top quality tools, and this bit is no exception.

This bit cuts very cleanly and is so sharp it makes shavings not dust when I cut with it.
