Titebond Liquid Hide Glue includes an expiration date on the bottle, because it can progressively lose its ability to dry hard, and this change is not visually obvious.
Titebond Polyurethane Glue has a one-year shelf life in an unopened container, but is useable as long as the glue remains fluid.
Polyurethanes, however, are designed to react when exposed to moisture. Sometimes, they begin to cure, and solidify, after the bottle has been opened. Most of our yellow and white glues, including Titebond Original and Titebond II, remain usable beyond two years. Should Titebond Original become thick and stringy, or Titebond II turn into an orange-colored gel, these changes signify that the glue is no longer usable.

Shelf life is months if stored in a cool, dry location. Titebond or hide glue? Hot glue or bottled? Dan Erlewine uses three glues for this repair, and each has different properties.
He explains why one glue can't cover all the bases. And he's created some pretty interesting cauls for clamping this job together while it dries! Easy to use. And I think it really does turn very much rock hard. I've found it great to work with. Nice time to work it and it cleans with warm water almost perfectly oozing out of bonds etc. Cleans up easily with damp cloth. It's really good for quick jobs, when you don't want to bother with hot glue.
I have been using this for over a decade now and will never go back to the glue pot. Works every bit as good, clean up and dispensing is much easier and the shop doesn't smell all day.
