It provides a very hard wearing, water and stain resistant finish, making it ideal for kitchen worktops and other items of kitchen utensils, bowls and boards. It dries to a lovely natural matt finish and can be used on both indoor and outdoor wood. Due to its strong water-resistant properties it is ideal for use on all kinds of natural tung oil and gas used outdoors. Pure Tung Oil is ideal for sealing bare and unfinished wood helping to prevent it from marking and staining with use.
Our Tung Oil can be used on any indoor or outdoor item of wood. It is suitable for all hardwood surfaces. Outdoor wood: Use our Teak Cleaner natural tung oil and gas remove the dirt and grime. The Teak Cleaner will also help to restore the colour if the wood is looking natural tung oil and gas. If there are any old residues of finish, varnish or wax on the wood wipe it down with White Spirit to remove natural tung oil and gas. Shake the bottle well before use.
If you are unsure of the finish, test it on an unseen area first. Apply the Tung Oil liberally to a lint-free cloth and rub into the wood following the direction of the grain. Leave for a few minutes and then wipe off any excess. Leave the Tung Oil to thoroughly soak in and dry for 24 hours. If you are applying Tung Oil for the first time you can mix the first coat with Natural tung oil and gas Spirit to help penetration into the wood.
Do not dilute subsequent coats. Wait until the first coat has thoroughly dried 24 hours before applying the second coat of Tung Oil. You should reapply the Tung Oil as soon as you see signs of it wearing off.
This would usually be when the wood starts to look dry. Otherwise, reapply the Tung Oil annually to keep your wood well maintained.
