The actual jig itself is solId, however the square drive bit is complete garbage and it started to become stripped after screws yes I made sure I was square when using it as are their proprietary screws. The clamp is cheaply made.

The only thing made in the USA is the drill bit. Complete crap for the price. It should only cost half of what is does now. I'm one of those guys who has a million different kinds of tools and people break my stones over this, but I gotta say this little weapon really impressed me. So easy to use, light weight, precise, makes such a nice clean sharp joint.

I used it mostly for shelves in a new shed, and again very impressed. Not one joint split on me as you might get normally on a "T" style app. You will not get that with this style joint. If your even considering this purchase, do yourself a huge favor and hit the purchase button. Just as any other good weapon in your arsenal its worth the extra money you put out once and trust me you will be satisfied.

That being said, this worked perfect for me and I'm glad that I purchased the product for the job. I will mention that you will need to be extra careful on joining two flat pieces together.

Another review mentions this about how the screws tend to pull the 2 pieces together in one direction this side you're screwing from which will cause a bow in the finished board. I used several clamps to clamp both boards to the work bench before I started setting the screws. Once I worked that out I was extremely happy with the results. Enjoy woodworking? Test - I have been building wood shelving in our basement for the past 6 months, lol! I know, its taking forever to finish - hear about it almost daily from you know who! Anyway, this Kreg jig system is a lifesaver! The first time you use the jig, take your time and make sure you have everything lined up for what you're working on - shelving is repetitive and having the jig setup on a table or workbench is very handy!

You will blaze through the joints and everything will line up. Make sure you pick up a box of the Kreg screws - makes the wood joints rock solid and really secures everything nice and tight.

I have been buying Kreg products for years and when I called to ask about buying a hard storage case, the guy who answered was very rude - told me to buy it online and hung up!

I was disappointed when I called in to ask about getting a storage case for my kit - guy hung up on me and said that I could buy it online.

I knocked them a star for their customer service. The K4 Jig system itself is awesome! I have been very impressed with the way it joins 2x4's together and how sturdy the shelves are.

Great product and I hope that they can improve on the customer service. I have a cabinet shop. This is the second Kreig pocket hole tool I own. The first one works just fine and is over ten years old. The second I bought mainly because it was on sale and now no one has to wait to drill pocket holes. Notice in the pictures that the older one has the clamp handle is the front of the tool. Works great, drill-unclamp-move piece and drill again.

Now notice the new one with the clamp handle is the back of the tool. Who ever engineered this has not built cabinets for a living. In the center pic you can see what I am talking about. When drilling a cabinet side you can't reach the handle. What is ironic is I learned to build cabinets this was from the Manual supplied by Krieg when I bought my first one. For most homeowner woodworkers this may not be a problem, but when working on larger pieces you can see the problem.

Still a good tool which I will use mainly on face frames. I will say the Kreig pilot bits are much sharper that after market bits, worth the extra money. Sure, I've seen that some purists don't like pocket holes and pockets holes may be frowned upon, but it's one of the easier ways to make joints.

The pocket holes are strong and fairly easy to make. That being said, this jig kit is superb. Yes, it does have some carelessness built into them, such as metal shavings still in tact, etc.

I'm sure once I get better at it and have more experience under my belt, I can do away with cheaper pocket hole jigs that aren't as beginner friendly as this one is, but for now, it's awesome. My hope is that when I replace them, I'll probably get a cheaper jig and be able to use it without all the convenient features like this has, such as a drilling bit collar guide. See all reviews.
