I received the sander earlier than expected with box in perfect condition; that's good. Then I found that the motor impeller cover had a big dent that prevented operation and had bent the impeller.

Easy enough to fix, fortunately. Once the sander was up and running I spent several hours trying to adjust the conveyor alignment so that it would work properly. Eventually I found that the problem was that the conveyor table is nowhere close to flat. I called Jet technical support, and they're sending me a new conveyor table. So that's good. I will update this when the table arrives. Stay tuned. A replacement conveyor table arrived very quickly, so thanks for that.

But it turned out to have exactly the same problem! With a straightedge across it you see a very significant dip in the middle. I'm guessing this problem affects a whole lot of these machines. Meanwhile I was able to flatten the original table so that it's fairly functional by banging on it with a rubber mallet. It's stamped steel about 2 mm thick. Could have come up with better and more controlled machanism. The machine works but it is very difficult to calibrate.

I need to sand larger than 10 inches pieces, and when I change the direction, it keeps not being right. Yesterday I was sanding a 2 cm wide piece and right at the center of the belt it ate nothing but when I put the piece at either end of the belt it ate quite a bit.

Either the belt table has a bow in the middle or there is more adjusting to be made. Will update this review after I adjust it more later today.

Might have to call support on this one. Eventually I got the calibration to a acceptable level , still not right but acceptable. I suspect that it has to do with the bend of the sand paper strips as it get to each end.

Tech support was not very helpful told me to take to a repair center to be checked out. I was a little leery after some of the "out of the box" experiences of others but I have to say I did not experience any problems. I took it out and plugged it and everything was adjusted perfectly. After sanding both sides, the thickness was uniform within 0. All in all, I'd say I am very happy with my purchase.

One thing from the product description though; installed sandpaper is 80 grit not as in the description. I posted the information below before I discovered what was causing my conveyor belt to overload. It is not related to the reset switch and it was user error. I slightly moved the platform away from the mech and all was well. My review is now 5 stars. I left my old review for reference. The conveyor belt overload was tripping all the time.

Out of the box the drum would not turn. The box and all packaging materials arrived undamaged but the sheet metal cover on motor was bent in and keeping motor from spinning. Since packaging materials were all in tact it appears this thing was stood or dropped on end at the factory, most likely when it was being place in the plastic bag it was wrapped in.

Once I hammered that back into shape everything else worked fine with no adjustments needed. So far I have run a bunch of 6" to 18" wide door panels through it with good results and it is much quieter than a planer.

Needed a sanding solution like this and finally pulled the trigger. My primary use is segmented rings for turning projects and sanding resawn parts for laminations.

Out of the box it is pretty good on most parts but needed a slight adjustment on the outboard end as that was a little too low. I do not use the measurement scale as I am looking for more flat and parallel than hitting a critical measurement. Two issues cropped up: When sanding small diameter rings some tended to jam on the exit roller as the downward force was only pushing on the leading edge of the ring causing it to tip and dig into the sanding drum.

I fixed this by feeding the rings on a hardboard sled that had adhesive stair treads attached. This positioned the rings on flat, grippy surface that fed through the machine. When I replaced the sandpaper I found that process to be very fussy but with practice it may go easier. Excellent product. Just be sure to raise the drum slightly so the small shipping block between the drum and feed pad comes out.
