I can ease the blade into the work, then just keep the trigger depressed and the blade advances automatically through the piece. The Control-Cut feature restrains the carriage and keeps the saw from jumping through the work. With a 40 tooth trim blade the cut is always very smooth. You don't have to use the Control-Cut feature but I think you will like it. Works great on dadoes! Once set up, the saw is fairly rigid. While moving it I did warp the fiberboard table a bit and had to readjust it after moving.

This is not a portable device. Set it up and use it carefully and it will remain true. I have been using the saw daily now for a month and it is still true.

In fact, the large table makes it handy to do all your measuring and layout right at the blade. My Delta power miter saw has sat unused since I got this saw up and running. I can do everything on the radial arm saw that I could on my power miter saw. Of course the miter saw is portable and this radial arm saw really isn't. The saw repeats fairly well. The laser track device is mounted on the arbor in place of the outboard washer.

It works very well, making a bright sharp laser line on the outboard side of the kerf. I have found that if I place my cut line just to the inside edge of the laser I will get a perfect cut every time. And since the laser is mounted on the arbor with the blade, there are no adjustments to make on it and it cannot be knocked out of alignment from the blade.

Nice feature. I think the best thing about a radial arm saw is using it to cut dadoes. Cabinet faces require a lot of dado cuts and it's a piece of cake on a radial arm saw. It just doesn't get any easier. Setting the control cut at the slowest advance rate will ensure smooth splinter free dado cuts every time without bogging the motor.

The handgrip is comfortable. The control-cut trigger pull is stiff but not unreasonable. Carriage travel is smooth. The motor is quiet far a 10in. For the money it would be hard to beat the Sears Craftsman radial arm saw. It does require a bit of set up, and initial adjustments can be tedious due to the absence of fine-adjustment screws. All adjustments are made by loosening the yokes and clamps and slipping the parts to square them up.

It works but takes longer to get everything just right. If you are setting up a home shop on a budget I suggest you get the Sears Craftsman 10in radial arm saw and the 10 in table saw. You can get both for less than the cost of a Delta radial arm saw.

Save your money and get the Craftsman. Take your time setting it up and I believe it will serve you well. This is by far the worst shop saw I have ever owned or used. In , I purchased a Craftsman 10? Radial Arm Saw and used it for 32 yrs. It was a very good saw, accurate and always held its alignments,this new saw Model , will not. The alignment must be readjusted every time the saw arm is bumped, moved or the cut angle changed.

Sears sent a tech, under warranty, to repair the saw but the parts he needed are no longer available and no longer stocked by Sears. This saw has been misrepresented by Sears Craftsman? The owner? It came with a one year repair warranty that Sears cannot honor because critical repair parts are no longer available for my less than a year old saw.

Sears says no refund and no repair but I can trade for an identical saw with the same inherent problems. Growing up and watching my father use a radial arm saw, I have always wanted one of my own. My has passed my my brother inherited the saw. This saw is far superior. It is basically the same but the improvements in construction and safety are like night and day.

The old classic set the bar for the best and this new model has shamed the old one. Well done and the price was even better! I just purchased this saw not to long ago and I use it more then my other saws. I build custom wood cabinets and furniture. The only complaint is during the shipping the front of the table was damaged badly.

Yes I would recommend this saw to my friends. I have been a fan of craftsman tools all my life. So far things aren't so good , stand is a little lite for the weight. I first thought the table support angles were too short , following the picture. Then I realized you printed it wrong.
