I bought this along with the Kreg R3 kit to use for a specific purpose, namely to fix wooden chairs that have small 1"x1" rails to connect the 4 legs of a bar chair.

This was the perfect size and I used the Kreg clamp that I also purchased with the R3. Since the pocket holes are not visible drilled into the underside of the chair , all I did was apply a furniture marker to the pocket hole.

Top Contributor: Cooking. I don't think there's an easier way, nor less expensive, way to make pocket holes than this jig. You can spend a LOT more on others and the finished product won't be much better than you'll get with this mini jig.

The more expensive ones do make it easier and faster but they end up making the same kind of hole. The bits are important so make sure you have a step bit or you'll end up with a sloppy cut.

There are two bits you can use: a 45 or a 90 degree. Since I use drywall screws for most of my joinery I don't need to spend a lot more on specialty screws. A 45 degree will give you a tapered area in the cut that's perfect for a bugle head screw. The metal sleeve in the jig is great and it keeps the bit stable.
