To change the disc or belt the machine has to be partially did-assembled. Real pain in the butt. The belt does not run smooth. The joint in the belt is not even. I have a few porter cable tools and I hate the fact this one was bad. If you purchase, take it out immediately and turn it on. Check the sanders. I can't blame a supplier for something that could have happened in shipping. However, they processed the return in excellent time, and the second one was good. I feel like some folks grade the Porter Cable brand down because they think it should work like an industrial sander at a professional company.

However, for a guy like me, who has a fairly sophisticated shop, the trade off between cost and quality is more than acceptable. It does everything I need it to do, and I use it a couple of times a week. I am pretty sure it will last longer than I will. A real jewel. Like the tilt tables. Does not vibrate around on the bench. I am pleased and that isn't easy! Love this sander, works flawlessly and has two shelves so you don't have to detach one to move it back and forth during use.
