But stuff gets hot on the lathe quickly, and these even more so. The glue holding the velcro to the pad heats up and the velcro will fall right off.

Good idea, very poor construction. If someone could come up with an inexpensive but sturdy glue to withstand the heat, they'd be a millionaire.

The foam on these pads is very stiff so it doesn't really conform to the rounded surface at all. I bought some 1" sanding pads to go with this as I had a lot of detail sanding to do and it worked well until the plastic velcro MELTED and is now worthless.

While using the " ads I'll start keeping a bowl of water in hopes of not overheating this weak plastic. It's really sad that I've used chinese cheapos that have lasted longer than these things.

The 3" mandrel has proven relatively useful, so I don't want to completely write this off. It's not worthless, but the smaller mandrels might as well be. I was using my smallest drill at half speed and still melted the hooks. The larger mandrel seems to handle heat a little better, but my smaller mandrels are toast, the pads don't stick anymore.

I did my best to keep the rpms down, but they still overheated and melted the hooks. Just want to warn anyone. If you are planning on using this for serious work, you might be happier with some of the products from Guinevere. The mandrels are too stiff.

On a 4" bowl, the small mandrel scored the inner walls. On a shallow 12" dish, the large mandrel worked fine. It is not a toy, as someone said, but I am looking for a better one. These are sized for Vince's 2" and 1" disc. Available at craft, fishing supply, etc stores. Stored on a shelf behind the lathe. Roll goods are above to easily cut off length needed. Flat supplies are in the another pic with 5" ROS disc in TP rack and sheet goods on the right with plywood in an attempt to keep them flat.

A little bit sloppy, but this is my set up. It's behind me as I stand at the lathe. My shop is only 9 feet wide so it's a pretty short walk.

That way I have one of each grit handy when I need it. It helps me to keep track of what grit is currently being used an increasingly frequent problem. I also have the Velcro squares on a narrow cardboard strip folded into thirds so it will fit in my demo tool bag. John Torchick.
