Will the area demand a higher rent if your apartment is improved to those standards or will you over do it on the upgrade and not be able to get what your apt should go for due to the area. If you are in a B neighborhood or above I think it would be worth it and I actually am very good friends with someone who could give you an excellent price on the countertop.
