With all the recent changes in my shop, my lumber rack needed some attention as well. One of the first things I made for my shop other than the plywood workbench that was recently removed was the lumber rack. Over the years it became a dumping ground for any material I brought into the shop. One of those rails was directly in front of my lumber rack. In fact, the top rung of the lumber rack rarely got used because it was so inconvenient to reach between the ceiling and garage door railing. I tend to use plywood as soon as I bring it into the shop.

So, I guess you can say the hardwoods I have or what I bring in usually acclimates to the shop a while before using. I think of the lumber rack as more of a long term storage solution. Another good benefit to the new lumber rack is that it features more rungs and they lumber rack harbor freight zone more shallow than my last lumber rack. This allows less wood per storage rung, but just as much as before. In addition to the hauling feature, you can add a top to serve as a work surface and also a lower shelf for more storage. The plywood gripper is extremely easy to use and small.
