The link is attached below. I hope this will shed some light on the subject for you. Thank you for your question on the Radial arm saw bevel release not working. It sounds like the indexing pin is seized in the housing and will not come up far enough to release the bevel lock. This area has two different types of metal and the steel pin is stuck in the aluminum housing. I would suggest removing the handle trim and then the carriage handle and then the cover so you can get to the area where the pin is located.
Then spray some lubricant in to that area to see if you can get the indexing pin loose. Please let me know if that helped you solve the problem.
Sam A. I am embarrassed to say that the reason I could not pivot the arm is that I did not pull down the yoke release at the bottom of the yoke assembly. It can be difficult to get to some parts. I did some research and located a previous expert post with information that may help while you wait for the expert. I attached the link below. I hope this helps.
Yes, you should be able to remove the plastic cover to access the pin. I've seen these things get some corrosion built up on them when they're not moved around pretty often. You may need to remove the pin to clean it up but sometimes you can Craftsman Radial Arm Saw Bevel Lock Repair just oil it up and bit and then work it some to get it free again.
Thank you for using Manage My Life! Can you please tell me how the plastic comes off? I know there is some particular way to remove the hard plastic cover without breaking or damaging it. I have tried to pry it off with a small flat tip screwdriver but it looks like it will break so I stop. If I can get to the screws behind that cover I believe I could get to the bevel locking pin and free it up Anyone have any tips?.
The cover shows to just pop into place.
